EUCLID has been appointed to fulfil this function by the European Commission (EC) and the Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) in the UK. The main role of the CCP is to promote the Culture 2000 programme, the European Union's funding programme to support projects in the arts (performing arts, visual arts and books & reading) and heritage sectors. In addition, the CCP is encouraged to provide information and guidance on other EC funding opportunities for the cultural sector. Culture.Info is an online portal of cultural listings and related information - organised via a range of easily accessible sub-portals which focus on a theme (e.g. networks or funding), a location (e.g. UK) or a cultural area.
EUCLID has organised many conferences and other events since 1996 with European or international themes.
EUCLID hosted a visit by a total of 15 visitors from Bulgaria and Russia in November 2002, to the North West and Yorkshire regions of England. Since then, EUCLID has regularly hosted student and work placements from other countries, including France, Germany, Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovakia and Serbia. ACRONIM is an international bibliographical online database of cultural research and documentation from across the world - books, reports, journal articles, conference papers, monographs and theses. Anyone, anywhere, can search the database or contribute submissions - free. ACRONIM was launched with around 3,000 items of cultural documentation and research.
