Education & Training for the Cultural Sector: what does Europe have to offer?

Education, training and lifelong learning are key priorities for the European Union, especially in the light of the goal of the Lisbon Agenda "to create the most competitive knowledge based economy in the world by 2010". New programmes begin in 2007 which will offer opportunities for support for projects and collaborations across Europe - and in the meantime, the Bologna Process continues its progress towards a new Higher Education Framework for Europe.

But what does all of this mean for the cultural sector?

This conference is aimed at those working in both education and training, and at those working in the cultural sector who provide education and training activities or who have an interest in this area - perhaps as employers or from a personal interest. The conference will also be of interest to both policy makers and practitioners at local, regional or national level, as it will highlight examples of successful (and less successful) ideas, strategies and actions in education and training across Europe.
