What Kind of Funding for Culture? – Leeds – March 2018 TBC

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO MARCH 2018 – MORE INFO TO FOLLOW

The Like network of European regions, cities and towns is excited to announce a European conference to be held in Leeds, UK, from 22-23 June, that will focus on UK and European experiences of the various options for the financing of arts and culture organisations, initiatives and activities.

This is part of LIKE’s 2017 [R]evolution programme, with events in no less than 6 countries (Belgium, Portugal, United Kingdom, Denmark, France and Germany), focusing on the important issues to EU cultural policy making (governance of culture, funding of culture, cooperation for culture, European Capitals of Culture). More information on LIKE and its [R]evolution programme can be found here [link to webpage] and at www.likeculture.eu.

Leeds is delighted to be hosting the event in the light of their bid to be European Capital of Culture 2023.  Leeds has consolidated its position as one of the UK’s leading cities in terms of its commitment to hosting world class cultural events such as ASO Tour de France Grand Départ in 2014, British Art Show 08 in 2015 and now in 2017 celebrating the 50th anniversary of Leeds West Indian Carnival, Europe’s oldest carnival and Leeds’ biggest community festival.

The conference will include presentations from across Europe, with a focus on models of good practice and innovative developments in the UK in recent years.  There will also be visits to local projects, and an opportunity for delegates to network and meet colleagues from across Europe, with the aim of stimulating future partnerships and joint projects.  The draft Programme can be found here.

This conference is presented in partnership with thebigword https://thebigword.com/
